Built for Crossfield weather

A prairie town on Highway 2A. What its roofs face.

Crossfield sits about 43 km north of Calgary, in open farm country inside Rocky View County. That means the Calgary region's summer hail, wind with little to stop it, and long winters. Here is what an Interlock® aluminum roof does about each, and what it doesn't.

Hail

Inside the 2020 storm area

Insurance Bureau of Canada named Calgary, Airdrie, Rocky View County and the surrounding area in the June 13, 2020 hailstorm, almost $1.2 billion in insured damage, and puts Alberta's hail losses at about $6 billion over the five years to 2025. Interlock's Slate, Shake, Cedar Shingle and Mediterranean Tile aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, listed by Intertek under Delta Building Products. That does not make a roof immune: very large hail can dent metal, and the material warranty excludes hail larger than 38 mm (1.5 in).

Wind

Open fields on every side

Crossfield is a farm town with open fields around it, so wind reaches its roofs with little to slow it. Shingle tabs lift and tear in gusts; Interlock panels lock together on four sides with no exposed fasteners, and wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.

Winter

Chinook thaws and hard freezes

Warm chinook spells reach this far north of Calgary too, and each thaw followed by a freeze works water into asphalt and cedar. Aluminum does not absorb water or rust. Snow slides off it, so snow guards go on the quote wherever a slide would land on a door, deck or path.

Ice dams

An attic problem first

Ice dams form when heat from the house melts snow on the roof and the water refreezes at the cold eaves. The material warranty excludes ice damming, so we look at your attic insulation and ventilation with you rather than promise the roof will stop it.

Permits

Town and County rules

Inside Crossfield, building permits go through the Town; Beiseker is its own village, and the land around both is Rocky View County. Whether a roof replacement needs a permit depends on the work, for example rebuilt decking, so we confirm the rule for your address before the crew starts.

Why Crossfield homeowners choose aluminum

A Crossfield roof you don't replace again. From a company that answers for it.

Own crews

No subcontractors

Interlock Metal Roofing (Alberta) Ltd. installs every roof with its own crews. The company that measures your Crossfield roof is the one that puts it on and answers for it later.

Profiles

Five profiles, nine colours

Slate is the most popular Interlock® profile across Alberta; Cedar Shingle and Shake give a wood look, Mediterranean Tile a tile look and Standing Seam a plain modern line. Every one needs a slope of at least 3/12, which we measure at the visit.

Weight

Light enough for an older house

The panels weigh roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre, a fraction of concrete tile. On an older Crossfield house we still check the rafters and decking first, and write any repair into the quote.

Warranties

Two warranties in writing

The Guardian Lifetime Limited Material Warranty from Interlock Roofing covers the aluminum and finish while the original purchaser owns the home, transferable once, workmanship excluded. Our 10 Year Limited Labour Warranty covers the installation.

Price

One price before you sign

We inspect the roof, the decking where we can, and the attic, then write one price. Anything the inspection finds is in the quote before you sign it.

Canada

Made in Canada

Interlock Roofing makes the panels in Delta, BC. An Alberta company, Canadian owned and operated since 1999, installs them.

Recycled

Up to 95% recycled aluminum

And the last tear-off your house is likely to need.

Straight answers

Crossfield roofing questions, answered.

All of our answers ↗

Who installs Interlock metal roofs in Crossfield?

We do. Interlock Metal Roofing (Alberta) Ltd., the certified Interlock® roofing contractor for Alberta since 1999, installs every Crossfield roof with its own crews from its office in Calgary. There is no Crossfield office; the consultation is on Zoom or at your home. We are BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, Baeumler Approved, and a 2026 GuildQuality GuildMaster Award winner.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Crossfield?

It depends on the work. Inside town limits, permits go through the Town of Crossfield; outside, Rocky View County's rules apply, and Beiseker is its own village. Structural repairs such as rebuilt decking are the usual reason a permit is needed. We confirm what applies to your address before we start.

How does a metal roof handle hail in Crossfield?

Well, but no roof is immune to hail. Insurance Bureau of Canada named Rocky View County in the June 13, 2020 hailstorm, almost $1.2 billion insured. Interlock's Slate, Shake, Cedar Shingle and Mediterranean Tile aluminum panels carry a UL 2218 Class 4 impact rating, listed by Intertek under Delta Building Products. Hail big enough can still dent metal; hail larger than 38 mm (1.5 in) is excluded from the material warranty, and storm damage goes to your home insurance. Ask your insurer how they treat an impact-rated roof.

Which communities does crossfieldroofing.com cover?

Crossfield and Beiseker. Calgary and the rest of Southern Alberta are on calgarymetalroofing.com, run by the same company from the same Calgary office with the same warranties.

Have you installed many roofs in Crossfield?

Not many yet, and we would rather say so. The number on this page is every completed, published Interlock® roof in our job book for Crossfield and Beiseker. Across Alberta the job book holds thousands, installed the same way by the same company.

What does a metal roof cost in Crossfield?

Our cost page shows real contract prices from Interlock® roofs signed in the Calgary and Southern Alberta market in 2025 and 2026. They are a rough guide only: prices vary from job to job with structural and other conditions, and an in-home roof consultation is required for an accurate price. The consultation and the written quote are free.
